Moves to Leicester and gets employment at BTH light bulb manufacturers, later known as Thorn Lighting where she meets Lorraine and Ken Wass. Lorraine remains a good friend to this day and wrote an eulogy at Ellie’s funeral. 

Housewife from 1958 as had first child Jacqueline, Nigel in 1960 and Steven in 1961.

Various part time jobs when the children are young including at Co Op laundry on Gipsy Lane, Sainsbury’s in Humberstone Gate, Carlton Cinema,Gipsy Lane as an usherette until the cinema closed and became a bingo hall. A short spell in Boots on the glassware department which she hated and then moved to C & A which she loved.
